Who is it for?

Staff of independent cinemas, film festivals, film societies and cross arts venues who work in the following roles:

  • Management, operations and administration
  • Fundraising and development
  • Board members
  • Anyone in a creative or business role who needs to understand fundraising for the film exhibition sector.

What will I learn?

  • Understand the current funding landscape and find out what funding is available
  • Discover how funders think and see your organisation through their eyes
  • Find out the dos and don’ts of writing an application
  • Get practical advice on researching and pitching to corporate sponsors
  • Look further afield: European funding, trusts and foundations
  • Attend practical breakout workshops on either fundraising for capital projects, writing a business plan, or one-to-one surgeries

How will the course be taught?

Talks, panel discussions and workshops will be delivered by fundraising specialists, experienced film exhibitors and funders themselves. There will be an opportunity for a limited number of one-to-one surgeries for participants who need advice on a specific project. You will also have the opportunity to network with colleagues from around the UK.
