Applications are now open for the FEDS Alumni – Travel Bursaries.
Deadline for applications: Friday 29 November 2024
The ICO has a small pot of funds available to support alumni of the FEDS Trainee Programme in travelling to upcoming industry events. A total bursary pot of £1,000 is available, and we anticipate awarding 3 – 5 bursaries with this money.
The fund is intended to be highly responsive to the ambition and specific needs of applications. Additional funding is welcome but not essential – applicants should be aware that value for money will be considered in the decision-making process.
The FEDS Alumni – Travel Bursaries are supported by the British Council.
Objectives
The fund aims to:
- encourage networking and the development of new contacts
- enhance career options and build on past FEDS experience
- develop links between FEDS alumni and national/international partners
- increase UK presence/profile at international events
The Offer
The ICO will provide financial support to cover travel costs for upcoming industry events. Possible events that this fund can cover the travel costs for include international film festivals and conferences.
Applicants will be responsible for making their travel bookings. All fees (up to an agreed amount) will be reimbursed once receipts have been submitted to the ICO.
After attending an event with support from this fund, the alumni member will be required to provide a short report (500 words) that is suitable for the ICO/British Council blog and social media.
Application Process
Applicants should include the following information as part of their application.
- The event you will be attending
- Dates and duration of attendance
- Reason for attending the event, including a brief description of how this will benefit your knowledge, skills, contacts and career
- A description of the organisation and how a placement would benefit the applicant’s knowledge, skills, contacts and career
- An outline of travel costs
- The amount requested from the ICO
The ICO reserves the right to offer successful applicants less than the requested amount.
Criteria & decision process

Payment process:
A timescale of payments will be agreed with individual awardees. Awardees will need to submit receipts for all expenditures. Any funds allocated not covered by receipts will need to be reimbursed.
