Programming Artists’ Moving Image work

George Clark; Artist, curator and writer

In recent years there has been a significant increase in press and public interest in Artists’ Moving Image (AMI) work driven by the high-profile success of artists such as Steve McQueen and Clio Barnard. However there remains some hesitancy on how to introduce traditional cinema audiences to this work. This session will give an introduction to the history, current practice and models for programming AMI work; the potential for linking to and enriching existing core programming; and the opportunities for reaching new audiences and offering new experiences for existing ones.
