Take me to:
SpeakersFor this month’s BFI Film Academy Lab, we’re welcoming Emma Butt, a freelance Dubbing Mixer, Dialogue and SFX Editor with over 14 years of experience in post-production sound.
Emma began her career in Dublin and has been working in the UK industry for over 7 years, first as staff but then deciding to become freelance. She works across multiple genres from documentaries (both TV and feature), drama, light entertainment and animation. She is a current member of the BAFTA TV Committee.
In her spare time she is a mentor, helping to support the next generation of filmmakers and creative talent. She is an advocate for diversity in Film and TV, and completed a report on ‘Diversity in Post-Production Sound’ through The Sir Lenny Henry Centre for Media Diversity which highlighted the lack of diversity in the field and offered solutions as to how this can be changed and improved. She has worked as a consultant with Audible UK on their ‘Off Mic’ workshops which aim to improve diversity and inclusion across craft and technical teams on audiobooks and is a recent winner of the Women in Film and TV award for “Achievement of the Year”.
Emma will be speaking with Piers Courtney, a film programmer, designer and technician based in Brighton who is currently working at Fabrica in a film programming internship supported by Film Hub South East.
About BFI Film Academy Labs
BFI Film Academy Labs are online events for 16-25 year olds to gain industry insight and get professional advice and support to develop their own film programming and filmmaking practices. Programmed by the Young Film Programmers’ Network (South East) they are delivered as practical masterclasses, workshops and networking sessions.
This session will be live-captioned, we will provide instructions on how to access the captions at the beginning of the event. If you have any questions about the event please get in touch at: info@independentcinemaoffice.org.uk
You can watch recordings of some of our previous Labs on the ICO YouTube channel.
