BFI Flare is currently looking for a team of committed, hard-working, enthusiastic and friendly volunteers to assist in the smooth running of this year’s festival from 15-26 March 2023.
About BFI Flare
BFI Flare: London LGBTQIA+ Film Festival is the UK’s longest running and Europe’s most popular LGBTQIA+ film festival, which showcases the best in contemporary and archive LGBTQIA+ cinema from around the world.
Volunteers are an essential and valued part of the festival team and BFI Flare would not be possible without the support of our volunteers, who generously dedicate their time and commitment. This a great opportunity to gain experience of working on a film festival, enjoy access to BFI Flare events and films and immerse yourself in LGBTQIA+ culture!
About the role
We are seeking volunteers with excellent communication skills, a friendly manner and the ability to deal effectively with people at all levels to assist in all areas of the Festival including hospitality, meeting and greeting guests, signposting, providing support and information, supporting on special events to assisting the delegate services, press and hospitality teams.
Some prior event or administrative experience is a bonus but not essential as we will provide opportunities to develop your skills and gain new experience. We would also encourage volunteers to specify on their application form whether they have an interest in Events, Guest Services, Industry Delegates and Press Services to ensure that we can place you in areas which suit your interests and skills.
Volunteers will primarily be based at BFI Southbank (nearest station is Waterloo). Working hours and duties will be discussed and agreed with the Volunteers Coordinator following selection and recruitment process. You will be expected to commit to a minimum of four shifts during the festival. In return for your time we will provide an allowance for travel and food, plus a chance to enjoy the festival itself.
