The Filmhouse is seeking a Marketing Manager to plan, create and manage marketing and communications for their cinema programme and public profile.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in engaging and developing audiences for a newly re-invigorated cultural institution.

Role responsibilities
- Work closely with Filmhouse’s Executive Director to contribute towards the cinema’s marketing strategy, which encompasses the promotion of the cinema’s programme, educational work, hospitality offer, memberships, and charitable donations, as well as audience development.
- Agree and achieve targets for attendance and box office income.
- Regularly analyse sales and CRM data to identify and characterise trends and patterns in audience behaviour; ensure Programme Director and Café-bar Manager are briefed on emerging patterns and conclusions so as to inform ongoing development of their areas.
- Support the frontline teams (Cinema and Café-Bar) in delivering exceptional customer engagement.
- Lead on the Filmhouse website, ensuring it contains accurate information and interesting and relevant content.
- Manage Filmhouse’s social media channels – developing plans for messaging and engaging content and responding to enquiries on social media platforms.
- Track the effectiveness of all marketing campaigns and monitor social media reach
and popularity. - Work with external programme partners and organisers to ensure that their screenings, festivals and events are smoothly and effectively dovetailed into Filmhouse’s wider communications framework.
- Lead and manage promotion, delivery and implementation of the Membership offer.
- Lead on engagement of external services e.g. design agency, media buying as required.
- Lead on press coverage as appropriate, supporting the Board, Programme Director and Executive Director on press liaison and PR.
- Support ancillary income streams with marketing function as needed, e.g. commercial hire, technical services etc.
- Develop excellent working relationships with colleagues across all departments within Filmhouse including the Café-bar.
- Any other duties as required to service the workload of the department including recruitment of marketing department staff.
- Construct, negotiate and manage departmental budgets effectively.
- Make creative and efficient use of agreed budgets.
- Promote and support diversity and inclusion in all activities.
Person specifications
Essential
- Experience in a management role.
- Demonstrable experience of implementing and evaluating marketing and communications campaigns in the arts / cultural sector.
- Demonstrable flair for digital marketing, social media and experience of coordinating social media schedules, and ensuring compelling content.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience of design, production and distribution of promotional materials including direct mail.
- Experience of dealing with suppliers.
- Experience of using Customer.io or similar CRM systems to segment audience data and effectively target campaigns to key audiences.
- IT literacy beyond CRM and ticketing, e.g. Office365.
- Ability to construct, negotiate and manage budgets effectively.
- A high degree of administrative skill and experience of managing multiple projects.
- Excellent attention to detail, including strong proofreading skills.
- Experience of partnership working.
- Able to calmly manage a high-volume workload while under pressure and work to tight deadlines.
