About us

Samizdat is Scotland’s first Eastern European and Central Asian film festival, based in the Centre for Contemporary Arts in Glasgow. We have been generously funded by Screen Scotland, BFI FAN, and FilmHub Scotland, and have been running since 2022.

Our team is made up of film academics and practitioners from across the UK and Eastern Europe. We are all passionate about connecting Scottish audiences with films from the Easter European and Central Asian region. We aim to exhibit films that are challenging and diverse, and which represent the region’s rich abundance of cultures, ethnicities, communities and traditions.
