Flatpack Festival are looking for a Front of House Manager to help make sure that audiences have the best possible first interactions with the festival.

Background

Flatpack produces amazing events and projects which bring people together to discover something new, including the internationally acclaimed Flatpack Festival. Play and exploration are at the heart of our Birmingham based 6 day jamboree, where film mixes with other art forms and audiences are entertained in unique ways in often unusual spaces. The 17th edition will take place from 16 – 21 May 2023 and will comprise of 60+ events, from parties to film screenings with live scores.

Purpose of Role

We are looking for a Front of House Manager to help make sure that audiences have the best possible first interactions with the festival, from being able to book tickets easily to being greeted by friendly, informative volunteers at all venues.

About You

You’ll enjoy working and communicating with lots of different people, have a good eye for detail and be comfortable with problem solving when last minute issues or queries come up with volunteer scheduling or online booking systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage volunteer applications and be the first point of contact for all volunteers for the festival, making sure they have all the information they need
  • Work with the production and programming teams to design and deliver a comprehensive volunteer induction
  • Create a schedule for up to 70 volunteers for the events taking place during the festival
  • Manage the budget lines for all volunteer related expenses
  • Brief volunteers and team leaders at the beginning of shifts during the festival and provide general support
  • Work with the Marketing team to get all festival events up on the website, identifying and helping to resolve any inconsistencies or errors
  • Keep the Marketing and Programming teams up to date on ticket sales, highlighting events that may need more marketing and those which are almost at capacity
  • Support with answering customer queries regarding the booking process
  • Liaise with venues regarding box office requirements
  • Reconcile ticket sales for all events, liaising with other venues where necessary

Working Hours and Environment

You will be based in the Flatpack office in Digbeth, Birmingham and at home. We currently work flexibly, with team members working up to 2 days per week from home if they would like to.

During the festival you’ll work between the office and the various venues we are using. These days are longer days and we’re on our feet a lot but this is where our planning comes to fruition!

As this role is event-based there will be evening and weekend work but this will be factored into your overall hours.
