About The Castle Cinema

The Castle Cinema is an independent community cinema in Hackney, and the reincarnation of one of London’s earliest cinemas! Built in 1913 as The Castle Electric Theatre, the original cinema closed in 1958 but re-opened in 2017 after a successful crowdfunding campaign.

With two beautiful screens and a stunning bar, we’re passionate about great films, delicious refreshments and genuine service, and want a trip to The Castle to be remarkable for all three.

Summary

As the first people guests meet when visiting the cinema, our FOH team are responsible for ensuring everyone has an outstanding experience.

The role involves selling tickets and refreshments, ushering and cleaning, and assisting with other aspects of cinema operations as required.

Terms & Conditions
  • Job title: Front of House
  • Reporting to: Duty Managers
  • Pay: £10.50 per hour
  • Hours: part-time, inc evenings and weekends
  • Holiday entitlement: equivalent of 28 days per year (calculated pro rata)
  • Other benefits: Complimentary cinema tickets & bar discount
  • Contract: Casual/variable*
  • Start: August 2022

*There may also be opportunities to apply for a minimum hours contract (ie. 25hrs per week).

CVs should be no longer than two pages. Your cover letter should be between half a page to a page long. Tell us why you think you’d suit this role, and why you’d like to work at the Castle. We are happy to accept video applications.

We will be arranging interviews to take place early August. Interviews will take place at the cinema, with a duty manager and general manager. If successful, there will be a short secondary interview with another duty manager. This interview will include a few set tasks behind the bar. If hired, we expect training shifts to begin early/mid-August 2022.
