The Parade Cinema in Marlborough is looking for a Duty Manager to join their team.
The Parade Cinema is an independent cinema in the heart of Marlborough, offering an inclusive cinema experience with a diverse film programme alongside an environmentally conscious bar and café serving locally sourced and delicious food & drink. We are seeking a hospitality experienced motivated and enthusiastic manager to join our cinema team as one of our Duty Managers to help us continue to provide a great service and further develop our hospitality offering.
Opened in 2021, the Parade Cinema screens the latest blockbusters as well as a diverse mix of films from around the world. We live stream events, theatre, opera, ballet, and concerts. We host the Marlborough Parade Family Festival and provide a premier event location in Marlborough for parties, family, and business events. We also run a great café that offers amazing food – all prepared inhouse, as well as selling a wide range of drinks and snacks to make an all-round great customer experience. Film – Friends – Food. We’ve even been reviewed on an American film-based YouTube channel – and so our reach and reputation go far beyond just Marlborough!
What your role will involve
At The Parade Cinema, the Duty Manager is responsible for the running of a shift, supervising operations, and ensuring the wellbeing of staff, customers, and the business. As a cinema, café, bar & restaurant, we operate seven days a week between the hours of 08:00 and 00:00. We are seeking applicants with flexible availability, capable of working early mornings, late evenings, and weekends.
This role is a permanent, full-time position (40 hours per week) where the post-holder is required to work cohesively across all areas of The Parade Cinema, providing support to the General Manager.

Role responsibilities
- Assist the General Manager in overseeing day-to-day cinema operations, ensuring exceptional customer experiences
- Possess a strong understanding of all products and encourage the team to promote and sell them
- Encourage staff to boost memberships, admissions, and food & beverage sales
- Act as a point of escalation for any customer queries
- Manage the recruitment, training, and onboarding of new cinema staff alongside the General Manager
- Provide feedback, training, and coaching to team members to enhance talent management, team growth and development
- Ensure the team is well-versed in legal compliance and can perform effectively in their roles
- Manage the Employee Relations of the team and ensure that employment legislation is always adhered to
- Work collaboratively with all members of the management team when deputising for the General Manager
- Assign tasks and organise the team in a fast-paced, bespoke customer service environment
- Support the General Manager to establish and maintain relations with the local community, businesses, and media to enhance the image of The Parade Cinema and to inform partners of relevant developments
- Ensure full site compliance with health and safety, financial and security policies and procedures and audits
- Be vigilant at all times and know the lines of communication and emergency procedures, taking appropriate action to ensure personal safety and security of both customers and colleagues
- Be aware of all Health and Safety and licensing requirements to ensure that they are adhered to so that the company’s responsibilities are not compromised
- Comply with policies and general operational standards and procedures at all times
- Participate in appropriate training and professional development as directed by your manager
- Fulfil any other duties essential for an efficient cinema operation as reasonably required.

- Flexibility and a ‘can-do’ attitude with a positive and proactive approach to change
- Efficient and organised with the ability to prioritise and manage their own workload
- A genuine and demonstrable interest in the hospitality sector with kitchen / restaurant experience / knowledge
- Proven experience of successfully leading and motivating a team to meet targets
- Experience in team management, developing staff through training, coaching, and mentoring
- A strong and effective communicator and a personable ambassador for the venue
- A drive to make The Parade Cinema the best independent cinema in the UK
- The willingness to work a variety of shift patterns as required by the business needs
- Technology literate
- Financially aware with an understanding of managing revenue, profit & cost.
