Regent Street Cinema is looking for a Cinema Operations Manager to join their team.

The role of Cinema Operations Manager is central to the success of the business and pivotal in providing direction and structure to everyone within the Cinema Front of House team, managing the efficiency and profitability of the bar and ensuring the smooth running of the private hires service of the cinema’s operation.

The key responsibility of the role is to ensure the smooth running of the cinema creating an environment where people are trusted, empowered, engaged. The business to business aspect of the cinema’s offering requires a highly professional approach and attitude.

Principal accountabilities

The postholder will be responsible for:

  1. Under the direction of the Executive Commercial Director to manage a team of staff focused on Front of House, Catering and Bar and delivery of private hires, fostering a flexible approach amongst the team and ensuring sufficient appropriate cover at all times. Role Holder will lead the operations team and be responsible for recruiting, training and retaining staff to ensure outstanding customer service and staff satisfaction.
  2. Manage the rota and daily operations, be a regular presence on shifts to monitor the venue, actively managing and assigning tasks, maintaining clean and tidy spaces and communicating the film schedule so the FOH team can effectively inform the cinema guests.
  3. Supervise the smooth running of the bar to provide an excellent customer service, including FOH training on product knowledge, stock management and monthly reporting of consumption to the Executive Commercial Director. Manage day to day relationships with suppliers and service providers and support the Executive Commercial Director with procurement negotiations.
  4. Provide set-up support for Cinema events which have been approved for delivery and included within the Cinema Calendar and within its business plan. This includes liaising with colleagues in Estates, for example catering, cleaning, security and Front-of-House support to prepare for the efficient operation of events, including any live entertainment evenings.
  5. Work with the Content and Events Manager and Technical Consultant to ensure projection duties are satisfactory for the screening of films. Run multi-media presentations for private hire purposes and delegate to FOH team if appropriate.
  6. Assist the Executive Commercial Director in ensuring all areas of the venue are maintained in accordance with security, health and safety and fire regulations, conduct risk assessments for specific events and ensure mandatory requirements for Health and Safety, Fire and First Aid Training and qualifications are in place, including evacuation procedures.
  7. Supervise the box office operation (including the Veezi POS system) and provide concise communication to management colleagues.
  8. Be responsible for the staff cost budget, raising purchase orders and goods receipting services when received.
  9. As required, to open and close the cinema and act as a key holder.
  10. Undertake any other duties as appropriate within their competence, as required by senior management from time to time, to ensure the successful operation of the Regent Street Cinema.

To provide a professional marketing service which raises the profile of and generates ongoing interest in the Regent Street Cinema, to support the achievement of its engagement and income-generation targets.

Promote the Cinema’s distinct reputation to curious audiences seeking arts, culture and entertainment experiences.

Dimensions

Our Cinema Operations Manager will possess a genuine love of film and the cinema industry and will have gained end to end experience from a fast-moving retail, hospitality or events sector. The Cinema Operations Manager will have demonstrable operational management experience in a cinema. The key focus of the role is to support the Executive Commercial Director and collaborate with management colleagues: Content and Events Manager and the Partnerships and Marketing Manager. In the day to day operations and ensure that the cinema can show film programmes seven days per week, ensuring that the skills and resources are in place.

The post holder will have an active role as part of the operational management team and will manage a small team of contracted staff.

Please note there is a requirement to work the full-time 37.5 hours over a seven-day working week, with regular work during evenings and at weekends.
