Cinema Curator (Maternity Cover)

Salary: £41,360 - £46,050 (dependent on experience)

The Barbican Centre are looking for an experienced cinema curator to join the team as maternity cover for our curation of new releases programme and manage special events with visiting talent.

This is an exciting opportunity to programme at an independent cinema committed to international cinema and gifted filmmakers, to wide access and inclusion and to diverse audiences.

Role details:

• Fixed term, up to 12 months (maternity cover)
• Full time (35hrs p/w)

Role responsibilities:

• Programme films and events and produce parts of our new releases programme.
• Build strong relationships with distributors and work closely together with the rest of the cinema team.
• Manage the new release holdovers bookings at the beginning of every week, negotiating with distributors to ensure an exciting and diverse cinema programme.
• Manage special one-off events with visiting talent.

Role requirements:

• Experience of curating cinema especially in relation to the first run and performance cinema programme, including experience of working on the weekly holdovers bookings process.
• Strong working knowledge of the UK cinema exhibition sector
• Experience of managing cinema events with visiting talent.
• Highly organised, an excellent communicator
• Able to identify practical and creative solutions to make sure the cinema programme is delivered smoothly.
