The Barbican Cinema is looking for an experienced cinema curator to join its team as maternity cover for its arts programme curation.
We’re Barbican Cinema. Our aim is to connect audiences with a curated programme of international films; from celebrated filmmakers to ground-breaking and underheard voices. Our programme ranges from thematic seasons to new releases films, Screen Talks, film festivals, family screenings, collaborations with our colleagues in different artistic disciplines and event cinema, such as live theatre and music broadcasts.

We are looking for an experienced cinema curator to join our team as maternity cover for our arts programme curation.
This is an exciting opportunity to programme at an independent cinema committed to international cinema and gifted filmmakers, to wide access and inclusion and to diverse audiences.
You’ll programme films and events and produce parts of our specialised screening and events programme. You’ll build strong relationships with partners both within and outside the organisation, and work closely together with the rest of the cinema team. You’ll co-ordinate and develop cinema programmes with external partners and contribute to the department’s strategic objectives.
To be successful, you’ll need extensive knowledge of film and film exhibition, hands-on experience of programming and delivering screenings in a cinema, at a film festival or in a busy multi-arts venue. You’ll also be highly organised, an excellent communicator and able to identify practical and creative solutions to make sure the cinema programme is delivered smoothly.

- Salary: Grade D (£36,060 including London Weighting pro-rata)
- Fixed term: 10 month contract
- Part time: four days, 28 hours per week
