Doc Society are seeking a Support Programme Manager to oversee the Support Programme’s strategy, delivery and budgets.

Main purpose of position

To manage the Support Programme’s strategy, delivery and budgets. To have the overview of the Fund’s work and to ensure its efficiency. To support British filmmakers and their work with a focus on equity and inclusion and talent development.

Main duties and responsibilities

Support Programme

  • Work with the Fund Executive and Live Digital Events Producer to curate creative Labs for grantees and live events
  • Build on the Fund’s outreach and engagement with new and emerging documentary talent through regional BFI Doc Society Local events, filmmaker 1:2:1’s and other support activities focused on building networks within the documentary community.
  • Support grantee filmmakers with training, festival and professional development opportunities.
  • Work with the Head of Film and Fund Executive to build out equity based initiatives across the Fund and Support Programme including the Ripple Effect Fund, including production management: supporting funded grantees, managing deliverables, evaluation and reporting processes.
  • Liaise with BFI: NETWORK on all Support Programme activity.

BFI Doc Society Fund

Internal:

  • Ensure smooth running of all the processes involved in running the BFI Doc Society Fund and Support Programme with a focus on equity and inclusion, including being the first point of contact for all filmmaker enquiries either via the application system or mail/phone enquiries.
  • Work in collaboration with the Fund Executive, Production Manager and Business Affairs Executive to offer advice & practical support to granted film projects at critical stages of production and distribution/impact.

Communications

  • Lead on marketing and outreach to the UK documentary filmmaking community, including work on Doc Society social media platforms planning, design and posting, writing blogs and facilitating panels and talks at festivals.
  • Liaising with UK independent documentary sector partners and colleagues on best practice and shared priorities

Internal systems and reporting

  • Pull together Fund statistical reporting from applications and grantees
  • Co-ordinate stakeholder reporting and create the systems for the smooth running of this process

Industry knowledge

  • Keep on top of latest case studies and best practice in distribution

The role is normally based in central London, however, in response to the current Covid-19 pandemic all team members are currently working remotely from home for the foreseeable future and we welcome applications from anywhere in the UK.

First interviews will be held w/b 17th May.

Interviews in the first instance will be by Zoom. We may, lockdown permitting, request a follow-up interview in person.
