We’re delighted to add prolific Spanish auteur Pedro Almodóvar’s 21st feature film, Pain and Glory, starring Antonio Banderas and Penélope Cruz, in our Summer Screening Days line-up.
A semi-autobiographical tale, it follows Salvador Mallo (Banderas), a film director in decline as he recalls a series of experiences and encounters from his past: his childhood growing up in the ‘60s in Valencia, his first love affair in ‘80s Madrid, the pain of heartbreak and his early discovery of cinema.
Written and directed by Academy Award winner Almodóvar (The Skin I Live In, Volver), this intense, evocative and beautifully produced film’s stellar cast includes Asier Etxeandia, Leonardo Sbaraglia, Nora Navas and Julieta Serrano alongside Banderas and Cruz.
