Omar is the latest offering from Hany Abu-Assad (Paradise Now), a gripping drama about three childhood friends who protest the occupation of Palestine.

Omar is a young man whose village has been separated down the middle by the infamous wall, he lives on one side while his friends live on the other. Each day Omar scales the 8ft tall concrete wall under threat of gunfire to visit his friends and his childhood sweetheart – who he has secret correspondence with by passing notes in coffee cups – to discuss plans for their resistance to the occupation.

Omar’s best friend Tarek comes up with a plan to assassinate a Palestinian guard, and each friend must play a pivotal role in the scheme, so they all share in its success or its failure.

A tense and thoughtful drama which instils a physical sense of paranoia the more you watch, and with an emotive performance from leading actor, Adam Bakri, Omar is a must-see.
