Import/Export charts the experience of the new Europe through a multi-layered narrative which includes the stories of a Ukrainian nurse forced to migrate to Austria to keep her family alive and an unemployed Austrian man who sells second hand gambling machines to the Ukraine.
Ulrich Seidl’s film went below the critical radar when it was shown in competition at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival.
Only now is this controversial and thought provoking film being critically reappraised and acclaimed by the likes of Jonathan Romney and Sight and Sound.
Watershed in Bristol and the UK distributor Trinity are developing a retrospective of Seidl to accompany the autumn release of Import/Export.
