Woody Allen’s Vicky Cristina Barcelona is the tale of two young American women – Vicky (Rebecca Hall) and Cristina (Scarlett Johanssen), best friends but complete opposites in character – who spend a summer in Barcelona together, respectively pursuing studies in Catalan culture, and looking for adventure.
Enter the impulsive, impetuous painter Juan Antonio (Javier Bardem) who whisks the women off for a long weekend. Here begins the adventure – who will fall in love with this rogue? What if they both do?
And just when this love triangle seems complex enough, Juan’s fiery, charismtic ex-wife Maria (Penelope Cruz) crashes into the equation. Barcelona is picture postcard gorgeous and the cast sparkle in a film that shows Allen back on form.
