Winner of the FIPRESCI Prize at the Warsaw International Film Festival 2011, “For its un-contrived, humorous, effortless and tender portrait of two young Bulgarians and their imaginative escapes.”
On his way from Sofia to a friend’s funeral in Ruse, hitchhiker Kamen meets Avé, a runaway and compulsive liar. He is intrigued by her tragic stories and outlandish explanations but as they make their way across Bulgaria Kamen becomes tired of Avé’s ever changing tales and decides to go his own way. Fate brings the young pair back together and as their defences fall away their burgeoning relationship leads them both to confront their feelings towards death, love and truth.
First time writer-director Konstantin Bojanov creates a convincing chemistry between his young leads Anjela Nedyalkova and Ovanes Torosyan in this semi-autobiographical and deeply personal film, proving he is a filmmaker to watch.
