SpeakersOver the course of this year, Film Hub South East is running a series of free training sessions to support our members in their work to grow audiences for independent film in the region.
For our next event, we’re focussing on children and family audiences. We will be joined by Luna Goessaert (Audience Development – Film at Kunstencentrum Buda) and Saskia van Roomen (Founder of Small World Cinema), who will be taking us through their experiences and sharing their knowledge following years of work in this area.

Saskia van Roomen
Founder, Small World Cinema
Originally from The Netherlands, Saskia has lived in the UK since 1996. She works as an outreach manager at the London Film School, organising film education projects for young people. In her spare time she runs Small World Cinema, a community film club and festival for young people and families. The Small World Cinema programme celebrates children's cinema from around the world with relaxed screenings and workshops that offer a warm welcome to anyone who feels they would benefit from a supportive, non-judgemental environment.
Luna Goessaert
Audience Development - Film, Kunstencentrum Buda
Luna was raised in a house full of music, creativity and love. As a child, they were intrigued by everything around art, movies, theatre and dance. As a youngster, they studied arts and continued this at university. A few years ago they received their master’s degree in Textile Design. Their dream has always been to work with people and children in a cultural context, so finding the audience development role in Arts Centre Buda was a dream come true. Now two years later they are still flabbergasted about everything Buda does and mostly everything that they can be a part of inside the centre. In her spare time, you can find Luna in the cinema, at home with her animals or at the climbing gym and, of course, in a cosy pub with a good Belgian beer.
