Can love thwart social pressures and the rest of the world?
A 40-year-old philosophy professor, Sophie (Magalie Lépine Blondea) is in a stable, if somewhat passionless, relationship with Xavier (Francis-William Rhéaume). A decade has flown by, filled with dinner parties and cultural events shared with their middle-class, intellectual, progressive friends. But when she meets Sylvain (Pierre-Yves Cardinal), the handsome if on paper, entirely-unsuitable-for-her builder renovating their chalet, there’s instant chemistry. Sophie begins to question her choices, and her prior assumptions. Opposites attract – can they last?
Sexy, sharp and perceptive, French-Canadian director Monia Chokri’s (A Brother’s Love) exuberant romantic comedy is a shrewd portrait of a generation of women interrogating desire, fidelity and social norms.
