Over the course of this year, Film Hub South East are running a series of free training sessions to support our members in their work to grow audiences for independent film in the region.

To start things off, join the FHSE team to gain insight into writing FHSE funding proposals, as well as more general advice for writing applications. Following a short break, David Burgess of Apollo Fundraising and the ICO’s Jemma Buckley will then explore how once you’ve secured some funding, you may be able to leverage it to secure further funding elsewhere.

David is an experienced fundraiser specialising in securing support for the arts and culture sector. Prior to setting up Apollo Fundraising, he helped to raise philanthropic support for a range of arts organisations, including Manchester Camerata, Royal Exchange Theatre, Glyndebourne and English Touring Opera. During this time David secured 5-and 6- figure gifts from Trusts for revenue appeals and capital projects. He also increased Individual and Legacy giving while at English Touring Opera. David moved into consultancy in February 2015, initially as a fundraising consultant and trainer with the Management Centre (=mc), before founding Apollo Fundraising in Spring 2016.

Bringing Back Audiences

Thursday 22nd June, 10.30am - 12pm

The exhibition sector still trying to establish the long-term effects of the pandemic on the habits of cinema audiences in the UK. For this next training session, we will be joined by Oliver Mantell, The Audience Agency, who will be drawing on their recent audience analysis in combination with the latest data from the Cultural Participation Monitor, to help you identify some actions to bring audiences back.

Film Festival Roundtable

Film Festivals offer film lovers a real sense of an event: screening films before their release, screening fantastic films that won’t be shown nearby again and offering a key chance to meet film talent. But building audience excitement and delivering lots of events in a short period of time is no easy task. As part of Cambridge Film Festival Industry Day, Film Hub South East is organising training sessions for festival professionals within the region. Guest speakers include Jo Comino, Marketing Manager, Borderlines Film Festival and Yi Wang, Festival Director, Queer East.
