The Living Room Cinema Chipping Norton is a new independent cinema that opened in Chipping Norton in July 2023. A welcoming home-from-home at the heart of the community, we are a local cinema like you’ve never experienced before. We care about our surroundings, our environment, our experience and our people, but most of all we care about our guests.

About the role

Front of House Team Members will become brand ambassadors for The Living Room Cinema in Chipping Norton. As a Front of House Team Member, you will be responsible for always delivering outstanding customer service whilst also identifying and meeting individual guest needs to ensure a first-class cinema experience. You will support the cinema team by promoting our company values and maintaining an efficient cinema operation aligned with our policies and procedures, whilst safeguarding our excellent reputation with our customers and community.

Due to the nature of our business, weekend and evening work is required for this role. Please only apply if you are able to work evenings and weekends on a regular basis. Applicants must also be available over all school holiday periods including half terms, summer holidays, Easter and Christmas.

At this time we are only looking for applicants over the age of 18.

Hours: Part-time, 4-20 hours per week

Role responsibilities
  • To be polite, friendly and welcoming to all guests and visitors
  • To give accurate information about any of the content showing and using knowledge of film genres and show times, confidently recommend titles to guests
  • To become a competent multifunctional team member in all operational aspects of the role including confidently assembling and serving our food and beverage offerings in a quick and efficient manner, maintaining high levels of service throughout (tasks include preparing and serving specialty coffee, cocktails, handmade food and more)
  • To actively promote the value and benefits of our membership scheme to our non-member customers
  • To accurately record all sales transactions through electronic POS
  • To maximise retail profitability by maintaining excellent product knowledge of our food and beverage proposition
  • To minimise retail loss by maintaining effective merchandising of our products and accurately recording wastage when appropriate
  • To confidently challenge and enforce identification checks for age-restricted products including films and alcohol sales through appropriate policy and procedures (BBFC Certification / Challenge 25)
  • To actively combat film piracy by carrying out robust auditorium checks and appropriate monitoring techniques
  • To follow all relevant Food Hygiene regulations and Health & Safety policies
  • To complete accurate food safety documentation to establish full audit compliance
  • To maintain high levels of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the venue
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures set out by the business
  • To undertake reasonable duties outside of this description on an ad hoc basis when required
Person specification
  • We’re in the entertainment business, so an avid interest in movies and all things cinema is a must!
  • Passionate about delivering exceptional customer service
  • Experience in a similar hospitality food and beverage role, preferably in a café (barista) or bar environment, is highly desirable
  • Experience in a similar customer facing role, preferably in a cinema / theatre environment, desirable but not essential
  • Be a confident communicator with both guests and colleagues
  • Be confident when dealing with diverse groups of people both externally and internally including key stakeholders in the business
  • Have the ability to learn new skills and to adapt to new situations
  • Have the ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative
  • Have a real passion for integrating the cinema into the heart of the community
  • Take pride in your own performance and the quality of the work delivered
  • Be a real self-starter and determined to succeed with the drive to deliver outstanding results
  • Be available to work at key business times including evenings, weekends, school holidays and public holidays
