The BFI are seeking a Senior Production Executive to have oversight of all productions supported through the BFI’s Filmmaking Fund.

Fixed Term Contract: 18 months

We are seeking a Senior Production Executive to have oversight of all productions supported through the BFI’s Filmmaking Fund – from team read to delivery – ensuring that projects are appropriately and sufficiently budgeted and scheduled, that the BFI’s National Lottery funding is being appropriately spent and that the production team are capable and supported to deliver the film per the filmmakers’ ambitions.

This role will be responsible for all aspects of feature film production support across the process for all films funded by the BFI National Lottery Filmmaking Fund, as well being a key part of the application assessment process in relation to budget and schedule feasibility.

Key responsibilities include:

  • As part of the Filmmaking Fund’s Production team, oversee all aspects of production support, including due diligence on projects, assessing applications and contribute to the award assessment and work with the Business Affairs and Production Finance teams to ensure projects are robust and ready for the BFI’s Lottery Finance Committee (LFC).
  • Use practical feature film production experience at a Line Producer level in the assessment of the financial and logistic feasibility of a filmmakers’ creative vision by assessing the script, budget, schedule and finance plan, in consultation with the Senior Executive, Sales & Distribution and the Business Affairs and Production Finance team in general, of films that are under consideration by the Editorial team for investment.
  • Work with the Producers and Line Producers to shape the budget and schedule of committed IMPACT funded projects, and supervise Production Managers on Discovery and Future Takes funded projects for creative, practical and logistics feasibility and ensure they are ready to present to LFC.
  • Highlight potential practical and creative risks that may be required to complete the projects to LFC.
  • To manage the Filmmaking Fund’s Production team.

We are looking for candidates who have:

  • Significant previous experience working within the feature film production industry.
  • Thorough understanding and knowledge of the UK independent film production sector, including knowledge of facility companies and relevant crew.
  • Ability to analyse, evaluate and probe information and make informed decisions.
  • Capacity to work independently and collaboratively, with the ability to work under pressure while maintaining a tactful and diplomatic attitude.
  • Good commercial judgement.
