How to get thereWould you like to…
- Learn how to identify and engage with new audiences?
- Diversify your film programme without losing your core audience?
This November, we’re running two training days in Birmingham and York to support the activities of BFI Neighbourhood Cinema members, as well as offering free in-depth consultancies.
The Birmingham training day will be led by our Head of Cinemas, David Sin and the York training day by our Director, Catharine Des Forges.
Sessions will incorporate presentations offering a helpful background to how the film industry works, audience development (including encouraging attendance by families and children), archive programming, and how best to utilise social media and other marketing tools to grow your audience on a budget.

Consultancies
In support of the November training events, the ICO is offering bespoke consultancy support to a number of community cinemas, all of whom should be members of the BFI Neighbourhood Cinema scheme.
Community cinemas that are selected for the consultancy will be allocated a designated advisor. The consultancy will respond to your needs and challenges as outlined in your application. You could receive assistance in areas such as programming, audience development, marketing, social media, financial planning and governance.
The format of the consultancies is flexible and might include (for example) site visits, meetings, phone calls and a report. The aim is to tailor the provision as closely as possible to the needs of your organisation.
We will offer support rather than instruction and would hope to form a positive and long lasting relationship with recipient organisations.
Applications for these consultancies have now closed.
If you’ve any queries about either the training days or the consultancies, please email info@independentcinemaoffice.org.uk.
