Submission Pre-Selectors

Cornwall Film Festival is looking for Pre-Selectors for submissions to their short film programme competitions.

The role

This will involve viewing, and assisting with the submission process through our festival platform FilmFreeway.

Our short film submissions will be from all types of genres but will be no more than 20 minutes in length.

On average pre-selectors will view between 5-6 hours of content as we encourage voting from multiple selectors to ensure fairness during the consideration process. This is based on CFF receiving around 300 submissions, but overall hours may increase if we go beyond this total – so some flexibility is encouraged.

There will be between 20 – 30 pre-selectors chosen, and we are keen to accept applications from anyone interested in films, filmmaking, programming, curation & exhibition, however a critical eye, and of course enthusiasm is the most important! You do not have to be based in the UK to apply, as all the viewing will be done remotely (access to a computer, and a stable internet connection is necessary).

However there will be an opportunity for those unfamiliar with FilmFreeway to meet and learn the basics needed to be a preselector for CFF. This is a voluntary role, whilst we sadly cannot offer payment for your time you will receive:

• The chance to watch and vote on the newest British and International Short Films
• Accreditation to use towards voluntary hours as part of a degree
• Reference signed by our Festival Director
• Backstage access and lessons on how to one of the largest film festival submission platforms
• Meetings with key festival members, including members of the Awarding Jury – to gain insight into the film festival & filmmaking industry
• Access to progression initiatives within the Cornwall Film Festival team, pre selectors, youth jury, internships and other paid roles.
