Are you an experienced commercial manager, with a passion for film and the arts?

Bradford’s National Science and Media Museum, part of the Science Museum Group (SMG), houses Pictureville, a 3-screen cinema operation which includes Europe’s first IMAX. The Pictureville cinema (300 seats) and Cubby Broccoli cinema (100 seats) screen the best of independent cinema with selected mainstream titles and a Screen Arts programme. IMAX (218 seats) screens the best feature titles available in IMAX format and a regular programme of shorter educational IMAX films for families and pre-booked groups.

We are now looking for a permanent Cinema Commercial Manager to oversee the implementation of the business strategy for the three cinemas at NSMM. As Commercial Manager, you will focus on maximising profitability of the cinema operation and ensure the quality of the visitor experience is of the highest standard. You will be responsible for creating a team culture rooted in SMG values and a culture which celebrates the magic of cinemagoing.  You will provide leadership and operational direction in the delivery of high-quality film programme which delivers the promise of the Pictureville brand. You will also deliver a profitable food and beverage offer at the cinemas’ kiosk and bar, and will work with the Head of Screen Operation and Head of Commercial Experiences to deliver year on year business growth whilst also accommodating some not-for-profit use of the cinemas to help serve our local communities.

Joining us, you will have a strong track record of customer-focussed and commercial success at a management level. You’ll be comfortable leading operational teams, and have experience delivering, or being involved in delivering, large events for festivals. You will be experienced in controlling costs whilst still supporting business growth and will have experience managing substantial operational and income budgets. As a leader, you will be collaborative, engaging, and flexible; able to lead by example and develop a team.
