India on Film on Tour is your chance to celebrate rarely seen true classics of Indian cinema. Available to book from August until November, this collection of films celebrates the best of Indian filmmaking.
Many of these films have been previously unavailable to screen in the UK and there is no better time to share them with your audience than this seventieth anniversary year of India’s independence.
We have negotiated exclusive terms and availability of films that show the breadth of the subcontinent’s film craft, from the romantic dream of Guru Dutt’s musical masterwork Pyaasa to Satiyjat Ray’s powerful parable of tradition and modernity, The Music Room via Ritwik Ghatak’s social realist classic The Cloud-Capped Star.
We have a number of speakers available for introductions to the films. There is also funding to support venues that screen multiple features from the programme. For more information or to express your interest contact programming@independentcinemaoffice.org.uk
India on Film on Tour is part of the wider celebration of the UK and India in 2017 led by the British Council. To read more click here.
