- In addition to our Summer Screening Days, we’re delighted to be able to announce the dates for all of our upcoming Screening Days until next Spring. Mark your calendars and see you at mac Birmingham for our diversity and inclusivity focused ‘D’ Word Screening Day (25 September 2018), Tyneside Cinema for our Autumn Screening Days (27-29 October 2018) and BFI Southbank for both our Archive Screening Day (29 November 2018) and Spring Screening Days (2-4 March 2019).
- In Distribution news, we’ve announced all the film titles for our and Club des Femmes’ touring film programme Revolt, She Said: Women and Film after ’68: , including gems such as Laura Mulvey’s Riddles of the Sphinx (pictured above), Ula Stöckl’s The Cat Has Nine Lives and Pat Murphy’s Maeve – in brand new restored DCPs. Join the revolution and save a slot in your programmes this summer for films on women’s revolutions in seeing, being, living and loving.
- We’re also re-releasing Jacques Rivette’s The Nun (starring the one and only Anna Karina) in partnership with Studiocanal on 27 July across the UK; add this Cannes Classics treasure to your cinema’s programme if you haven’t yet.

- Filmmakers: submissions for BFI London Film Festival (for both features and shorts) are open until 15 June.
- Speaking of London Film Festival, they’re working with LUX Moving Image to offer early career mentorships for the Experimenta programme. This is a great (paid) way to get involved in experimental filmmaking and a major film festival. Apply here.
- This year’s This Way Up will take place in Liverpool on 5-6 December – early bird passes are now available and you can get 30% off if you register by 6 July.
- Programmers: there’s a wide selection of great British animation available for you to share with audiences through Anim18. Take a (free!) sneak peek at the films on BFI Player.
- Applications are open until 20 June for BFI Specialist Residential at Showroom Sheffield this July. This is a great opportunity for any 16-19 year old who’s passionate about film.
- Enter by 31 August for ‘Cinema of the Year’ at Screen Daily’s Screen Awards – honouring a venue that engaged in new and improved ways to serve both audiences and distributors.
- Film society or a community screening group? Apply for Filmbankmedia’s Innovation Fund (for up to £3k) before the end of July.
- Spread the word: The Film and TV Charity has set up a free and confidential telephone support line to help with issues in the workplace in film, including bullying and harassment. It operates 7 days a week, 24 hours a day on 0800 054 00 00.
