Glasgow Film Theatre (home of the Glasgow Film Festival)
GFT is Glasgow's leading independent cinema showing over 600 films a year, it plays an important role in the cultural life of the city and shows a wide variety of international cinema, arthouse films and documentaries alongside classic and archive films and some more mainstream titles. The cinema also has a dynamic programme of events such as films with live piano accompaniment, introductions, panel discussions and post-film Q&A sessions with filmmakers. GFT is a registered charity and has a strong education programme of courses and school screenings.
GFT is home of the Glasgow Film Festival, the UK's fastest growing film festival and a celebration of moving image in all its forms. Recognising Glasgow as a hub of European filmmaking and Glasgow audiences as among the most passionate cinemagoers in the UK, GFF represents the very best of film from the entire spectrum of world cinema. GFF08 screened 140 films from 23 countries over 11 days across six venues with over 20,000 admissions.
